|On November 25, 2011, the Malaysia's "Car of the Year" (CoTY) held in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center released their much awaited car appraisal results. Out of the 16 listed cars each by various well-known manufacturers, Haval SUV of Great Wall Motor was highly praised by the organising committee and the audience, thus named as the winner of "Year 2011 SUV Model Car". Not to be recognised as a solitary achievement for Wingle 5 Pickup truck too won the nomination award. This is the first time that the Chinese car brand has driven home the Car of Year title in the ten-year history of "Malaysia's Car of the Year". Continental or Japanese brands previously dominated the Car of the Year award winners.
Green Oranges (GOSSB), the Malaysian exclusive distributor of Great Wall Motor, took part with Haval H5, Wingle 5 and Voleex C20R EV. The event attracted car enthusiasts from all over Malaysia to visit those models and cast their votes on November 12 and 13. Malaysia's Car of the Year, is a conclusive activity presenting the annual report on the Malaysian automobile market which directly influenced customers' car to purchasing pattern. It is not a great surprise that this activity has attracted much attention of many auto manufacturers. Great Wall Motor, as a representative of China's car brands, stands out of the numerous car brands to win this honorary award, proving that Great Wall Motors has been widely recognised across Malaysia.
Haval SUV's win is not to be deemed as accidental because Haval SUV has been ranking top in its sales volume in China for eight consecutive years, passed the Whole Vehicle Type Approval of European Union in 2009 and won first place amongst the Chinese SUV Team in the extremely challenging 2011 Dakar Rally. With advanced technologies and solid strength, the three major brands of Great Wall Motors will definitely be the new benchmarks for top-ranking cars.
